WORKING TOGETHER

SYBAss facilitates a number of committees and working groups, as well as meetings.

Meetings

SYBAss members meet at regular intervals throughout the year.

The general assembly is held annually, usually during the Monaco Yacht Show in September. This meeting is attended by all SYBAss members and is the main decision-making vehicle of the association. Its primary tasks are to discuss and supervise the association’s policies and to appoint and control the board.

A second meeting for all members is held in the first quarter of the year, usually during the Dubai International Boat Show or Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Committees

Committees focus on specific fields of interest and are made up of specialists from the member yards.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee discusses issues of public relations and marketing. Topics range from how to collectively present SYBAss members at boat shows to discussions on media-related matters. Coordination of brand protection and award shows are also important subjects for this committee.

Sustainability Committee

This committee explores opportunities to advance sustainability in the superyacht industry by raising awareness, sharing information and promoting sustainable solutions developed by SYBAss members. In 2017, members adopted a general position on sustainability, specifically, “SYBAss members embrace the sustainability concept, with a collective focus on environmental sustainability and with acknowledgement of positive impact on economic and social aspects”.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee brings together engineering, design and production managers who discuss regulatory developments and review technical matters, such as coatings.

Working groups

Working groups focus on specific issues on a temporary basis. Past and current working groups include:

  • Coatings Working Group
  • Yacht Valuation Working Group
  • Brokerage Policy Framework Working Group
  • Green House Gasses Working Group
  • Client Representatives Working Group
