Heesen Yachts was founded in 1978 when established shipbuilder and entrepreneur Frans Heesen took the decision to branch out into yachtbuilding. His first yacht, the 28-metre Amigo, was launched in 1979. Based in Oss, the Netherlands, Heesen Yachts quickly gained a reputation for the use of innovative technologies, and was the first Dutch shipbuilder to employ aluminium alloy in the construction of yacht hulls. Since then, the company has become a world leader in the design, engineering and construction of high-performance, all-aluminium luxury motor yachts.
In 1992, Heesen Yachts expanded its business to include the construction of traditional displacement, long-range, steel-hulled yachts, increasing the portfolio of custom-built opportunities available to its clients. Its growing worldwide fleet of magnificent custom and semi-custom superyachts has grown to more than 170 in the past 35 years. The current fleet includes aluminium, steel, displacement, semi-displacement and the new revolutionary fast displacement yachts. Each one of these is unique – combining the dreams and ideas of an individual client with the expertise of Heesen’s specialist workforce – but each is inspired and driven by the same guiding principle: ‘the performance of luxury’.
Heesen Yachts is financially secure. It is large enough to cope with the demands of complex construction, but small enough to care about each individual project and client. It has the motivation to pioneer new systems and techniques, but is also dedicated to continuing the distinguished tradition of quality Dutch shipbuilding.
Over the years, Heesen Yachts has won a number of accolades and awards for its elegant and sophisticated yachts, but the aspect of its work of which it is arguably most proud is the fact that every single yacht it has built since 1978 has been delivered on time.
