FOUNDED  1950

‘Dunya’ – the Turkish word for ‘world’, perfectly encapsulates the shipyard’s philosophy and global outlook.

Dunya builds yachts that allow their clients to see and enjoy the world in a unique way. They partner with the best designers, craftsmen, engineers, and naval architects from around the globe, working together with a single, clear focus – to produce premium quality superyachts, with the highest level of customisation that delivers a bespoke experience for each owner.

The waterfront site where the current shipyard sits has been in the Ergun family since the 1950’s. Originally the setting of their holiday home, the family took the opportunity to develop it into the Ursa Shipyard in 1983 after the area was rezoned in a government move to shift the growing commercial shipping industry out of the city centre.

In 2005, the current President, Sedat Ergun, took over the reins of the company and transformed the shipyard into the advanced technology facility it is today, dedicated to the construction of the world’s finest superyachts. At the same time, Dunya Yachts, was launched to compete with leading northern European shipyards in the construction of large yachts. The universally acclaimed 73m yacht, Axioma, was the first yacht to come out of the yard and is still to this day one of the best performing charter yachts in her size range.

Showcasing their full custom ability, Dunya recently completed an explorer yacht and now has an 88m superyacht and a 48m catamaran support vessel in build. There is no limit to what can be built at Dunya’s shipyard.

The Dunya Shipyard includes two large build sheds measuring 80m and 110m in length that are accompanied by 3,500 m² of workshops, split across four floors, catering to all areas of yacht construction including aluminium, stainless steel, electrical, piping, mechanical and joinery. Dunya will be building another 90m shed in 2025. Additionally, Dunya has the only covered, climate-controlled dry-dock in Turkey, able to accommodate yachts up to 60m LOA. The shipyard also has a 20m oven for GRP and carbon works and a smaller build shed that is suitable for yachts up to 40m.
